Come hear new works that explore Light and Dark in psychological and spiritual terms. This program features a major new commission by composer Michael Hersch, who will create “a breath upwards”, a major new work setting texts by both writers and poets referring to Dante’s work, as well as translated fragments of the original Dante text. The work is a musical continuation of Dante images created by the American master printmaker Michael Mazur, whose works will be the focus of a major solo show at the historic Print Center, located directly behind Lenfest Hall. The concert also includes a new work by Network conductor Jan Krzywicki and solo piano music from Curtis faculty composer David Ludwig. Audience members can peruse the Mazur exhibit prior to the concert (from 2–2:45 pm) and a composer / curator talk in The Print Center will follow the event.
With special guest Ah Young Hong.
